   Aquatic Glassel is a clean burning fireplace and fire pit media. Traditionally natural wood burning fireplaces emit an excessive amount of soot from the burning process. Even though fake wood logs are commonly sold as clean burning, the process of having the burner spaced underneath the random log shapes causes the flame to whip around the logs creating a situation where the fake gas logs will always turn black over time and create soot in the chimney. Aquatic Glassel is the only product that provides a clean burn in fireplaces and fire pits because the fire is unobstructed and always above the surface of the glass.

We have heard back from a few people who comment that, “My glass is turning black.” The glass will not turn black with natural gas or a properly adjusted propane setup. The case always turns out to be that soot from burning wood and or fake logs over the years has created a soot build up in the chimney that falls when the fireplace is used, on windy days etc… We always recommend that the chimney be swept before any installation of our glass in any fireplace unless the home is brand new. Even after the chimney has been swept we have seen residual soot fall on top of the glass in some fireplaces. This scenario can be partially avoided by asking your chimney sweep to do an extra thorough job. The purpose for sweeping a chimney is to reduce the fire hazard of excessive carbon buildup and or chimney blockage/restriction. Sweeping the chimney will eliminate this hazard but may not remove all residual soot particles during the process.
